Following the 2020 protests and the subsequent damage to downtown Grand Rapids, our streets were lined with OSB boards instead of windows. It was a visual reminder of pain and unrest. Windows GR emerged as a movement to reclaim that space by turning plywood into a canvas for grief, solidarity, and healing.

 

I had the privilege of painting two areas alongside a community of artists who refused to let the city stay dark. This wasn't about decorating; it was about using paint to express a collective message of unity and a demand for justice. It remains one of the most meaningful murals I’ve ever been a part of.
